WHAT MAKES A FRIEND

Sunday, May 22, we are having a very special speaker that many of you will know. Jimmy Clark, a long time educator of our fair community, will be speaking at 10:30 a.m. here at 400 Main in Hemphill. He always does an excellent job when I have to be out of town. We would love for you to join us. Since I don’t know his topic I picked out a poem that I thought you might enjoy.

WHAT MAKES A FRIEND?

What is it that makes a person a friend?

Is it money and fame, or love without end?

It’s hard to know just how we can tell,

What makes up a friend, cause they’re not for sell.

A friend is one with whom we can share,

All the love in our hearts, every hope, every care.

Friends never ask for much in return.

For the love that they give, we never could earn.

They simply look in us for the best,

And overlook our faults and then take the rest.

God sent His Son, an example for us to see,

And now we know what a friend has to be.

If I searched the world from end to end,

I couldn’t do better, than you for a friend.
