Pineland City Council votes on grants, budget
Due to scheduling conflicts, the monthly meeting of the Pineland City Council was moved to May 19. Their agenda was light.
Council began by approving the accounts payable and previous meeting minutes. Next up after the departmental reports was the issue of selecting the administration/project delivery service provider to complete the implementation of Pineland’s 2022 Fire, Ambulance and Service truck program, funded by the TX Dept. of Agriculture. The board unanimously chose GrantWorks to fill this position.
Next, was the issue of a budget amendment for the city library. The council would decide to unanimously approve the $55,000 the library received. The next issue concerned dogs at the city park. After a brief discussion the council would decide to take no action.
The police department, next, got a budget amendment to go towards the purchase of new body cameras. No action was taken on the AT&T tower. The council then discussed the potential of getting a bond election started, and it was decided to come back at next month’s meeting with names for a potential advisory committee. The last issue was that of allowing a bottled water facility to come into the city at 116 N. Hwy 96. After hearing a revised statement from the same company that appeared at the May 4 meeting, the council would ultimately decide to table the issue until further information could be obtained.
