Farewell fantastic Student Reporters: Hornet Hive, Tiger Beat & Wildcat Walk
Hornet Hive
by Sam Allman
Howdy y’all. Let me start by saying how much I have enjoyed writing as the Hornet Hive. This has been such a fun and incredible opportunity and I’m so glad I did it. This is my last article and a farewell. I have learned a lot from
I have learned a lot from being at Hemphill. Other than my education, I have had incredible friendships, made lots of memories, and have learned many lessons. When I look back at the things I’ve accomplished, I’m pleased to say that I have done what I wanted to at Hemphill High School. I am leaving a legacy. I have proudly been a part of the One Act Play program which has advanced to regionals and area for the past two years. That had been the first time, to my knowledge. I also had the incredible opportunity to pitch and play for the Varsity softball team all four years of high school. This year I got to be a part of a team that advanced to playoffs for the first time in 8 years. But I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those at Hemphill for molding and shaping what, as of now, has been 10 years of my life.
I’d like to thank all of my teachers for their influence on my life and the education they taught me and my peers. Thank you to Mrs. Ginger Nethery who was so kind to me on my very first day at Hemphill. She calmed me down after I broke down crying, thinking I was going to get in trouble for not having a library book. I want to thank Mrs. Procella for being a bonus mom still to this day. She has always made sure I was taken care of and I’m so glad that I got to graduate with her son. I want to thank Mrs. Iles for being such a great listener and friend. I loved being her secretary and she was so much more than a teacher or OAP director. I’d like to thank the faculty for taking care of the school, creating a good environment for me to learn and grow. To Coach Noble, thank you for pushing me to finish strong through everything, no matter what.
Thank you to Hemphill ISD for being a home away from home and for building me as a person.
Wildcat Word

Farwell…
Well, the time has come. The time the entire class of 2022 has been waiting for since the beginning of freshman year four years ago. Let me start this off by saying, “senioritis” is very real. It has taken an army to get each of us where we are now. I want to thank everyone for helping me become the best version of myself that I could. Thank you to my parents who have stood beside me throughout everything and have supported me no matter what. Thank you to my friends who never let me down. Thank you to the teachers and administrators at Brookeland High School who welcomed me with open arms two years ago when I first started school at Brookeland High. Thank you to the staff of the Sabine County Reporter, especially Miss Jo and Mr. Dodson, for giving me this special opportunity to write for the newspaper. I would not be where I was now without any of you. I cannot thank you all enough. As our 2022 school year comes to an end and we finally walk across the stage and receive what we have been working towards for four years, I can say that I am excited to see what the future holds and I can’t wait to go out there and make a difference in the world.
Tiger Beat
by Emma Frick
Hey there Tiger Nation. I have written all year about how close the end was getting and I am completely overwhelmed with emotions now that it is finally here. I actually walk the stage this Friday, say what?! I am so blessed to have things like this that make saying goodbye so hard. Tiger Beat has been such a saving grace at times. It’s allowed me to tell you all about not only my greatest times but also my lowest throughout high school but most importantly it’s allowed me to spread God’s everlasting love. Although one chapter is closing, another one is waiting for me to make an even bigger mark on it. I am truly so excited for this next chapter and I can not wait to see where God leads me during it. When thinking of these times and the ones to come, I think of the song called “Canvas and Clay,” by Pat Barrett. If you have listened to it then you know how powerful it is, and if you haven’t you should run and listen. It talks about how God is an artist and a potter, and we are the canvas and the clay. The part that really gets me is when it repeats “You’re not finished with me yet.” I pray that no matter where I go in this next chapter that I remember God isn’t finished with me, and that all that I do will glorify him. He’s given me so much to be grateful for and I owe my all to him. He has guided me through my time as reporter for this wonderful paper, He has walked me through some of the greatest years of my life while being a West Sabine Tiger, He has gifted me with knowing some of the most influential people, but most importantly He has never given up on me. These years went by so fast and I catch myself wishing I could go back to the hard life of being a pre-k baby but I know I have to move on. I’ll miss writing for you guys so much, and I hope that you all enjoyed my words through Tiger Beat. Thank you, Jo, for allowing me this opportunity and teaching me so much, I wish you the best on your new journey as boss lady. I will always remember and love my time as the Tiger Beat Girl.
Thank you Tiger Nation. Shouting one final time, “GO TIGERS.”
