Editor’s Note:Scott Dyer has authorized the Sabine County Reporter to announce his candidacy for Justice of the Peace Pct 1. As a participant in the newspaper’s Political Calendar, following is a statement issued by Dyer.
Dear Sabine County residents of Precinct #1, My name is Scott Dyer, and it is with great enthusiasm, pride, and a deep sense of responsibility that 1 announce my candidacy for Justice of the Peace, Precinct #1. After much reflection, prayer, and many conversations with community members, I have decided to take this next step in service to the community I hold so dear.
For the past four years, I have been blessed to call Sabine Co. Precinct #1, my home. This is more than just where I live,it is a community that has embraced me, my family, and my work as a law enforcement officer. My neighbors and friends here are like family, and it is that connection that drives my desire to serve as your Justice of the Peace.
I firmly believe that Actions Speak Louder Than Words. Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to serving others. I am a proud life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post#10351), a Lions Club Member, and have brought the Champion Oaks Ranch Equine Assistance Program to our youth.
My adult life has been defined by service:
•As a United States Navy Veteran, I proudly served our nation during the Desert Storm War, spending over six months in a foreign land. I received an Honorable Discharge after serving from 1988-1992.
•Following my military service, I joined the Houston Police Department, where 1 faithfully served for 29. years (1992-2021), retiring with honor.
•I continued my service with the Sabine County Sheriff's Department, where I still hold a Reserve Commission.
•Today, I am honored to serve as Chief of Police for Hemphill I.S.D., where I work with the most treasured part of our community-our children.
These experiences have given me boots on the ground knowledge and deep personal connections within Sabine County. From day one, I will bring proven leadership, fairness, and dedication to the role of Justice of the Peace.
Having served as a law enforcement officer for over 33 years, I have seen firsthand the importance of fairness, integrity, and compassion in our justice system. As your Justice of the Peace, I will uphold these values in every decision I make.
My goals are clear:
•Ensure every individual is treated with respect and dignity.
•Advocate for fairness and accountability in all court matters.
•Bring common-sense solutions to challenges facing Precinct 1.
•Provide programs and mentorship opportunities for our youth, equipping them with the tools to succeed in life.
I ask for your support and prayers as I embark on this journey. Whether through your vote, volunteering, or sharing your ideas, your involvement will be vital as we work together to strengthen our community.
Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to meeting with you personally and discussing how we can create a stronger, more just future for Precinet 1. Mathew 5:9 With warm regards, Scott Dyer-Candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct #1
