Editor’s Note: Barnett has authorized the Sabine County Reporter to announce his candidacy for Sabine County Judge. As a participant in the newspaper’s Political Calendar, following is a statement issued by Barnett I am a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a 1992 graduate of Hemphill High School. My wife (Stacee) and I have been married for 29 years; we have three adult daughters, two grandchildren and two more due any time now. We have been blessed in that I had a career that has allowed us to raise our children here, a proud legacy that dates back five generations to the Republic of Texas.

I am retiring from Chevron Corporation in October 2025 with over 32 years in the upstream energy industry, primarily working the last twenty plus years on overseas assignments in operations and projects leadership roles.

I am currently a facility manager of two gas processing plants and natural gas fields in Bangladesh. I hold a bachelor’s degree in business management. I have extensive experience planning projects, negotiating and managing contracts and contractors, as well as developing and managing general operating budgets and capital improvement budgets. I am well versed in short-term and long-term strategic planning.

Being a lifetime resident who tries to stay abreast of current and upcoming events, I understand growth is coming to Sabine County. We are in a good position to leverage this growth in a positive way to mutually benefit all, while maintaining our small-town charm and values, if we work together and plan properly. I believe my ability and experience can help the county carry our message and plan for the future.

My platform is simple: 1. Economic Development (Development, Not Compromise) 2. Improved Infrastructure 3. Keep Taxes in Check 4. Transparency (make information readily available and visible) 5. Partnering with all (Team Sabine County) I look forward to serving and would appreciate your vote.
