SETX HS Bass Tournament

Kane Ross and Caden Wright, of the Hemphill Hornet Bass Club, took 30th place overall out of more than 400 High School Bass Club teams competing in the SETX HS Bass Tournament Championship on Rayburn this weekend. On Saturday, Kane and Caden brought in a 5 fish limit weighing 10.07 lbs. Braving the rain and lightening on Sunday they brought in another 5 fish limit weighing 12.38 lbs., for a 2 day total of 22.45 lbs. Congratulations to Kane and Caden for a job well done!

Lady Tigers in a classic with Colmesneil and earn playoff berth

Both Tiger squads hit the road last week to take on longtime rivals Colmesneil April 16. The ladies hit the field first, and it was a pitchers duel the entire way. The game went into extra innings scoreless before West Sabine finally broke the ice in the top of the 11th as Katie Lindow singled home Gracie Ross and Emma Bennett then singled home Lindow.

Mixed bag for Tigers, Lady Tigers last week

The Tigers and Lady Tigers stayed busy this past week as they kept the diamonds cooking vs. Broaddus and Chireno. The ladies would be first as they held their Senior Night April 12, and for the first two innings the offense was bogged down as the ladies trailed 1-0. The ladies would explode in the third, denting home plate five times to take a 5-1 lead.

Fishers of Men tournament

The team of Corbett Ross and Haylie Ross won the Fishers of Men tournament on Toledo Bend on Saturday, April 13th, with a 5 fish limit weighing 25.169 lbs. that was anchored by the Big Bass of the tournament weighing 8.29 lbs. They also took home the $10,000 First Place check! Congratulations to Corbett and Haylie! The last regular season tournament of the Texas East Division will be held on May 5th on Sam Rayburn.

Both Wildcat squads continue winning ways

Body
Both the Brookeland Wildcats and LadyCats kept their respective diamonds hot this past week. The Wildcats kicked off the festivities April 9 with a hard fought 5-2 win over a game Chester Yellowjackets squad. Cade Morgan was stout on the bump for Brookeland, limiting Chester to two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings, walking four while punching out 10. Morgan did it at the plate as well, going 3-4 with an RBI triple, and on the basepaths too, where he stole two bases.
